Ferry from Israel to Greece or Turkey
Hello all,
i am now in Dahab, and was planning to travel from Ethiopia to India-Nepal, I went thru Sudan, now in Egypt and was planning to go to Jordan, Syria, Turkey, Iran, Packistan. I have been reading that is quite difficult to manage to get a Syrian Visa but i am heading tomorrow to Cairo to figure that out. In case i am refused the visa then the only option seems to go to Israel then to Greece and Turkey or Directly to Turkey from Israel, (since i have told that there is no Syrian Embassy in Aman- Jordan). I know i will not be able to travel to Iran And Packistan , but the option will be to fly from Turkey to India. Now my question is are there ferries from Israel to Greece or Turckey ?? What are the cost ?? Any contacts u can give me ?? Thank u all as usual ... Mauro |
I m pretty sure that the Haifa Cyprus Greece line is not running at the moment. I think a search showed that Posiedon Ferries ( guessing here, maybe Salamis ) had suspended services.
I ll be in Syria Jordan then back to Egypt in the next 3 weeks, so I might see you on the way somewhere. JT [This message has been edited by jamieT (edited 31 July 2004).] |

I ll believe it when it s all gone smoothly....but Syrian Embassy London says (verbally) that I can get a visa on the border if ( and only if ) coming from the Lebanon, as I plan.
I ll let you know. Seems much more difficult coming from the Jordan end. JT |
Went to the Sirian Embassy in Cairo and got a 3 month visa WITHOUT ANY PROBLEM, i am traveling with an Italian Passport.
I dont understand why people say they have problems i also met an American and A British whom where getting their visa .. so i wonder why some people are telling that is not possible ..I paid something like 150 pounds. Very friendly people . Cheers adn happy travels . Mauro |

I arrived last winter to Jordan from Croatia, riding through Bulgaria, Turkey and Syria. I did not have any problems getting visa at the Syrian border except they asked me to pay additional insurance (around 100 USD).
In July 09 I will try to go back via Israel and Cyprus, and I am alsi trying to find some more info on ferries from Israel to Cyprus. No luck yet. If you find yourself in Amman in early July, stop for a beer. T |
