Ferry Kuwait/Dubai to Iran
I wonder if anybody knows if there are more ferry companies than Valfarje-8 that operate between UAE or Kuwait and Iran? Has anybody been in contact with them? Can you book in advance - any hints or tips are appreciated.

The agent in Sharjah for this shipping line is in the "Decent Restaurant" building on Abdul Nasser Street. That's the street behind the main park on Sharjah "Buhairah" Corniche.
I crossed with this line, taking 2 bikes, in 2002. Let me know if you need more details. |

Mauro,
There are two significant points regarding Iranian visa applications from the UAE. Firstly, I think you have to be resident here to make a visa application. Therefore, you will probably have to apply from your country of residence (not your country of nationality). Having said that, when I was in Erzerum, Turkey, I heard that the Iranian Consulate there was a possible source of visas for travelers. Maybe, you would have a similar opportunity in Addis Ababa or somewhere along the way. Secondly, when making the application it wasn’t necessary to hand in a passport. You fill out a form which is sent to Tehran and you get the reply within a week or two depending on your nationality. This, at least, enables you to make plans and get the necessary visas for alternative routes in case of rejection. Have you phoned the Iranian Embassy anywhere to ask them? In my dealings with Iranian authorities at the Consulate and inside Iran, I always found them to be friendly, polite and helpful. I hope you manage to get a visa. Stephano |
Thanks a lot Stefano, very usefull info, i went this morning to the Iranian Embassy in Addis but unfortunatly they were closed ... i will try tomorrow ....
Thanks once again. Mauro |
I've been in contact with the shipping company, the web site is http://www.oasisdxb.com/
They were very helpful and have made reservations for me. It costs EUR 150 by the way. Regarding Iranian visa, I'm Swedish but live in Switzerland and it was no problem at all to get a visa at the Iranian embassy in Bern, took a week I think. Erik |
