Jordan IDP and Israel to Saudi Arabia

Hi!

New on the site and are in need some insight to the Middle East!

Traveling from Europe to Oman via Israel with my fiancée on our RE Himalayans and got some questions that I would love if someone has the answer/experience to.

1. We got an 1968 international drivers license. About all countries accept that one except Jordan that wants the 1949 one. Anyone got any experience regarding this? Can we use the 1968 or should we get a new one? We’re already on the road and feels like a bit of a hassle to get a second one for just one country.

2. Since all the countries in the north of the Middle East (Syria and Iraq) is supposed to be dangerous and our government are advising from travels to these countries we will ship the bikes from Greece to Israel and continue from there. I know in the past that it was an issue to visit Israel before visiting Saudi, Kuwait etc but now when Israel won’t stamp the passports anymore (right?) and electronic visas to Saudi/Kuwait this is “supposed” not to be an issue anymore. Anyone that has done the similar trip recently that can share some knowledge on the subject?

Would love some input!!

Thanks in advance!!

I arrived in Jordan with 3 different international driving licences covering everywhere. When I went through the customs and visas on entry they did not accept any of them and were only interested in my Uk drivers licence. All my international licences has expired now and I’ve never been asked for them so far, they just want to current issued licence. You won’t get a stamp from Israel just a small slip of paper with a bar code. As far as Saudi Arabia is concerned I’m not sure but I’m hopefully crossing from Jordan in December heading also to Oman so we will see.

Cool. Thanks for the insight and clarification!

Found similar information online but it was only related to rental cars and not crossing into the country but it’s really good to know. Thank you.

We’re also planning to cross into Saudi in late December. Would love if you’ll do it before us and can tell us how it went! :thumbup1:

Our instagram is yearonwheels of you wanna connect!

Take care!
