Renting a Bike in Oman
 

Hi All -

Does anyone know if it is possible to rent a bike in Oman or the UAE? I'll be in Oman this summer on a research grant and I want to get some time out riding. Nothing serious, just a few days here and there, maybe a week at the end. I'm flexible so any information would be greatly appreciated!

No idea about Oman, but you can definitely rent bikes in the UAE.

I am not sure what type of bikes you want, but you can see the following post for details of dirt bikes in Dubai. Otherwise if you search there are a couple of posts about Harleys being available to rent in Dubai.

Meagan, I was out there for 3 weeks last Sept, and didn't see a single off-road bike though I was looking out for them, and except for local tiddlers, only 2 or 3 Harleys cruising Muscat in the evenings. Frankly, it was a bit warm to be on 2 wheels, and we had a great time in a hired Prado, with pukka 4WD and aircon.

A great book that we used loads was Oman Offroad, with loads of GPS references and great Google Earth screen shots, as well as engaging and informative text:
