Ride in UAE with foreign plate
Hello
I am a permanent resident in Abu Dhabi for last 3 years and plane to have a motobike trip back to france in Summer 2018. Preparing it, I plane to ship my motobike from France to Abu Dhabi by plane or by boat.I try to understadn how long I can ride the bike in UAE with my French plates before having a problem with local laws. Also I try to understand how to get insurance onboard during this period. Thanks for help Best regards Yves |
Hi Yves. I'm not sure you can ride it here - assuming you have transferred your French driving license for a UAE one already. But I find the RTA are actually pretty helpful if you go to one of their customer service centres personally and persist in asking the right questions.
Why not just re-register it in the UAE? That will make it easier to prepare and use here (no time limit deadline) and I would suggest, easier to insure too. |
as far as I know,, as long it is insured, and your papers are not expired (registration, Carnet, etc) you can ride it as much as you want.
I don't think there is a time limit to how long you can import it under the canet umbrella,, but ask the motorsport federation just to be safe,, they are the ones responsible for carnet in the country |
