riding Saudi
Is it still correct to assume that no bikes are allowed to enter Saudi from Sudan.... in order to transit to Jordan and Israel?
Trying to figure out a way out africa here :) thanks for the wisdom |
For now, I'm afraid that's correct. Sorry.
Your best bet may be a freight ship from an African port to Salalah / Muscat / Sohar / Fujairah or Dubai. Oman makes for beautiful, stress free scenic touring as an introduction to the Middle East and from there it's easy to get the Sharjah / Bandaer Abbas ferry to Iran. |
Hi, I'm hoping to catch a ferry or Dhow from Salalah to Africa, in a couple of months. Will post details.
Look through this link. http://www.ouradventurebug.com/2013/...-salalah-oman/ |

Is it the 'letting bike's into the country' that's the issue, or letting 'anybody' into the country instead? I'm in Saudi as an expat and have 2 motorbikes here (which were bought and registered here). I know it's difficult to get into the country unless you're on a pilgrimage or work here though.
That said, it's bloody dangerous enough in a car here, on a motorbike it's borderline suicidal. There are very few motorbikes in Saudi, they don't like them and they don't know how to deal with them when they do come across them (default reaction is to aim for them!). Good luck with your trip. |
Has anyone been able to get a bike or two across from Port Suakin to Jeddah recently ... recently being couple months or less?
I've read detailed reports of people getting accross end of last year... but that's more than 6months ago... and things may have changed(and likely) would love to get out of africa that way to Jordan/Israel and into Europe. Otherwise i have to go to Egypt :) there is now a ferry from Egypt to Jordan.... but that's unicorn's dream i think :) thank you |
I recently read the news that Saudi tourist visas will be issued from April 1. My plan is to travel from Sudan to Iran through Saudi Arabia in June. What is the latest news? Do they let a motorcycle in the country, and what is heard on the subject of visas?
