Do they ask what side the steering wheel is on in the visa application form?? Surely the problem is at customs...?

Right Hand Drive in Saudi Arabia
Good day
Our steering wheel is on the right hand side of the vehicle. We want to visit Saudi Arabia on a tourist visa and drive through to UAE, Oman and Iran. Does anybody know:
We did something similar in 2009 and then we traveled with the same vehicle, without a Carnet but only on a transit visa. However, things change a lot, and in some cases daily. |
I got info from my local Carnet issuing company in the UK that Saudi is not currently a Carnet country. I received no further info beyond that.

No right hand Drive
I am in Oman and right hand drive vehicles are not allowed to drive. I suspect that the same is the case for all GCC countries including Dubai. You might be able to put the vehicle on an transporter and get someone to carry it for you but even that I doubt. I've never tried it but I suspect that entry would be forbidden.

Hi. Wondering if there is any new info about RHD in Saudi Arabia.
There's a video from a couple of years ago on Youtube of a RHD vehicle crossing into Saudi Arabia: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=U50R2BiIdiQ Carnets are now accepted in Saudi Arabia, I think this change was recent, and, I read in another post somewhere that accepting CdP brings an obligation to allow RHD cars too. Sorry, light on facts. |
I hate to refer you to a social media group, but the Middle East Overland FB group is very active and a great source of information.
I keep an eye on the group and don't believe there has been any change in this irksome regulation. |
