Sudan visa
 

Hi people, anyone know if the Sudan consulate in Aswan is still there and if so are they issuing visas or do you have to go to Cairo?

As of last year I HEARD you could get a Sudan visa in Aswan. In fact a very cool guy who is useful to help you get on the ferry from Aswan to Wadi Halfa told me he could do it for me. Sorry I forget his name, but he works at the ferry office. He's Sudanese and the guy at the tourist info. office will know who your talking about if you ask for him. It was an easy visa to get in Cairo, so I suggest that. I considered Aswan a fallback plan. Also, get there early as the ferry does sell out. I had to wait a week because of that. I used to have that guys phone number and I called him using an Egyptian phone card so I know it works. I'll look for it.

Last month I showed up at the Sudan consulate in Aswan, and had my visa within an hour. Cost 100 USD and I didn't have a letter from my embassy or an invitation letter from a travel agent in Sudan. I hold a Danish passport. They also issued the visa on the spot for a French passport, a Belgium passport, and a Dutch passport. Sudan was great by the way, incredible people, so kind and hospitable.
