Diesel costs 10 Cent / liter. Close to the Turkish border non residents are officially allowed to buy a maximum of 100 liters. Crossing the border the tanks are not allowed to carry more than 100 liters, any excess is taxed with 1,45 $ / liter. Bakchich avoids paying the tax.

Camping:
In general no problem to spend the night “in the bush” or in the villages.
Camping Kaboun in Damascus: 100 meters west of the Homs – Damascus highway; ca. 6 km before town center. Helpful owner. GPS N 33°32`47,2" / E 36°20`54,2".
