Toyota Lcruiser LJ70 parts UAE / Oman
For anyone who knows the area, can you please tell me if Toyota Landcruisers, the older (e.g around 1990) LJ70 kind - sometimes known as the Landcruiser II - are common(ish) in Dubai, Oman or Yemen - (they are v common in Pakistan for instance) . Will be shipping our car there from Mumbai after Xmas and need to get new service parts - if the type of car is common, so should be the parts - none here in India!
For an account of overland to India via Iran then North through the stans (incl Af - breifly) - see http://tomandcadie.blogspot.com - going home via Dubai, Yemen etc., then Ethiopia and North - Insha'allah! |
Hi,
The LJ80 is not the most common Landcruiser here, but there are a few around. The main dealer (Al Futtaim) is a huge Toyota dealership with a few Toyota showrooms and workshops in Dubai. They handle Jeep, Chrysler, Volvo, Honda, Lexus etc. If you want new (original) parts they would be the first place to try. If you dont mind aftermarket parts or possibly used/refurbished parts, then the garages in Al Awir are the place to go. Al Awir is very easy to find as it is a large commercial/industrial area with a vast number of workshops. They are mostly on the perimeter of the area so you wont get lost trying to navigate your way around! I use a couple of garages close to my office that are European operated and are very good. Bit more expensive than the 'local' guys but cheaper than main dealer. My Range Rover is serviced by one called 'AAA'. They are excellent and I find them very fair. If you need any other information, just post a reply and I will see what I can find for you. If you need directions etc when you get here, sure I can help there as well and show you the garages. Cheers :thumbup1: |
Ras Al Khor

Ras Al Khor means head (or ‘top’) of the creek. There’s a good map of Dubai on the Dubai tourism web site. http://www.dubaitourism.ae/Map/DubaiMap.pdf There are lots of scrap and breakers’ yards in Sharjah industrial area too which is a joy to drive around after the heavy rain we’ve been having this month. If it helps, I could put you in touch with a couple of very honest workshops in Sharjah if required. They would probably be able to source used or new parts efficiently. I’ll try to ask about your Land Cruiser model when I go tomorrow. Stephan |
Got me thinking now! I have always known it as Al Awir Industrial Area and have since 1995 when I got here. :confused1: I think that Ras Al Khor is at the end of the 'Al Awir' industrial area on the road to the airport :eek2:
Whichever it is, sure it will be easy to find, just ask for directions to the Exiles Rugby Club or the Dubai Country Club, they are both adjacent. :thumbup1: |
Thanks guys
I definitely need a filter set, and may need a new shock and or a bush or two as well - something sounding ropey in the suspension occassionally when on a rough road! If either of you could please give me the the contact details of the workshops you mention that would be great - I can then contact them from here and get the ball rolling...! Thanks again, v helpful replies!
