Travel in and around UAE & Oman
Anyone got any trips planned over the next few months around the UAE, Oman or other countries.
Likewise if anyone is planning any trips here (to Dubai or UAE) let me know and I can advise, or try to help if I can. |
Hi Living the Desert Dream
I've just been made redundant so I will definitely be up for some riding in the coming weeks/months around the UAE and Oman. I have completed the BMW off road course level 1 so still a bit of a beginner to the off road stuff but would really like to get some practice in! Cheers Biker Chick (Lou) :scooter: |
Visiting Oman in Feb
Hi
We are visiting Oman in Feb, staying a couple of days with friends in Muscat then planning to hire a car and travel around for about 4 - 5 days. Any ideas welcome! |

Ryan, I don't have a road bike here at the moment but if you fancy meeting up that would be great. I've sent you an e-mail. In Oman, I think Masirah Island and most definitely Salalah are worth visiting if you've got 4-5 days. Closer to Muscat, Nizwa, Jebel Shams & Jebel Akhdar. Stephan |
Hi Stephano
Thanks for the reply, I will definitely contact you nearer February for some riding - the weather is perfect for it at the moment! Biker Chick (Lou) :scooter: |

If you are heading to Oman from Dubai, I assume you will go the Hatta route. We used to goto ras al hadd, which is about half way to salalhah.
There is a Turtle reserve there. A nice fishing lagoon and some super beaches, we used to go there between June and September windsurfing and surfing, the monsoon whistles past there, and there are some awesome waves. It is about 12 years since I went there but, vaguely remember heading for sur, the road ran out and just following the dirt upto the lagoon(couple of hours) where the turtle reserve and old fort are. There is a village there with a few bits, and a water plant I think! We found a pipe hanging out the side of it. which was a nice shower as we had been there two weeks with nothing! The main attraction for most people is the turtles, so you need to get the correct season. Dan |
