Travelling to Israel from Jordan
Good afternoon can anyone give me advice, I’m due to cross the border next week I’m on a Uk registered bike. I have been trying to find out how to insure my bike once I cross but all my emails to insurance co there are saying they do do that insurance. I’ve searched on the Hubb but the covid thing means there’s nothing up to date. Any help appreciated

So with no advice I just turned up at the border 2 1/2 hours later I was across insurance available at the crossing make sure and have cash, card was big commission. One of the easiest crossings with a bike

I have kept an eye on the HUBB over the last couple of years and there have been few posts of people's actual travels in that time so up to date advice is thin on the ground, thanks for sharing your experience which hopefully will encourage the rest of us to get out there.

What is your plan after Israel? Back to Europe?
|
So the plan is( now as I’ve been living in the Middle East and experienced on the ground and have some amazing friends I have to say Palestine/Israel, as I’m from Northern Ireland/ the north of Ireland/ ulster/occupied 6 counties blah blah I am aware of the perception of being aligned to some sort of political view) so from Palestine/ Israel I’m heading south to Egypt for a while then hoping to get to turkey. From there back through Jordan to Saudi Arabia to be in Qatar for the World Cup then back to Saudi for the Dakar before Dubai and shipping to India. That’s as far as the planning has got. From there hoping to be in Australia sometime but no real timeline just see where the trip takes me

The plan didn’t change because the plan is only in my head. So I’ve just shipped from Haifa to Cyprus and plan to spend a bit of time here exploring the island, from here it will be on to turkey for the summer and returning hopefully to Eygpt on a boat and onto Saudi. It’s just too hot in the summer

Nice plan ! Do you have any information about the Cyprus to Egypt shipping ? Because I want to go to Saudi Arabia after that and I'm afraid that taking the Rosenfeld boat to Haifa might cause some issues at the Saudi border ? What do you think ?

So here’s the thing, shipping is hard, I didn’t think it would be but as much as you read about shipping a bike and rider on board it just doesn’t happen. The roro ferries do not have a licence to carry anything but freight so you need to fly, and collect at the other side. I thought I had a proven route through Cyprus ( the one I used to leave Israel) only to find out today that if you travel from turkey to Cyprus you can’t ship onwards to Haifa [emoji2357] so at present in Mersin having a beer hoping for inspiration

If you enter Cyprus from North Cyprus with a vehicle, you can only leave by the same route; a few people have been caught by that.
Someone on here (who I believe is in Saudi, though could be wrong) posted that the Turkey - Saudi ferry was back in service after the fire, but there was no more detail than that. Might be worth checking. There was also a report on the FB ME Overland group from a guy who rode to Erbil, flew to Baghdad, got a visa at the airport, then returned to Erbil by car and rode his bike through to Jordan with no hassles. |
