Saleh,
Do you know if an expat can take his/her motorcycle out of UAE with the original registration plates ? I have taken my bike out earlier (to India) using the tourist permit issued by the traffic police but not sure how it would work if one wants to take the motorcycle out permanently. I've read some reports about the traffic dept. not allowing motorcycles to be taken out of UAE with the original registration plates and insisting that the owner de-registers the motorcycle and installs export plates on it. This would definitely cause issues with the next country of entry no ? thanks |
Yes you can ride your motorcycle
Dear Vicky
if you mean you want to ride your own bike abroad and re enter UAE then its posabile, but after issueing a cartnet from UAEATC and pay a deposite for it. overall yes you can drive/ride your own vichle abroad. Regards Saleh Quote:

I guess my query was not very clear. Apologies for that. Let me re-phrase the question. If an expat living in UAE wants to leave the country on a world tour along with his/her motorcycle (permanently), can he do so with the registration plates ? OR does he/she have to de-register the motorcycle, install Export plates and then leave the country ? Is there any way to leave with the original registration plates (not Export plates) ? cheers |
Just don't tell them you're not coming back!

last week we received our Italians friends, who decided to ship their bikes to Dubai and ride all the way back to Italy.:thumbup1:
they struggle with the shipping company as they didn't know exactly how to deal with Carnet doh, we interfere and guided the shipping agent on the right process.:scooter: on Thursday the shipper deliver the bikes to our location, in the afternoon the Italian arrived and they started fixing the bikes and preparing their bags. as they will be touring the city and having few pictures on Friday. on Saturday we visited the Ferry office and made all the booking and paper work for the next day ferry to Bander Abbas in Iran. Sunday Morning they head toward the port and prepare their thing for the departure.:scooter: on Monday they clear everything at the Iranian port and move forward. i wish them a safe and enjoyable trip.:mchappy: Regards |
Hopefully, we will soon be able to ride Syria, Lebanon, Jordan and Saudi Arabia up to UAE... :D

@Dubai355
I'm planning to do a week long trip to Oman next spring, end-Feb/early-March. Don't know if I'll fly to/from UAE, but if so, are there any good rentals? Do you need some sort of permit to enter Oman w/UAE registerd bike, ridden by 3rd nationality? Cheers Senna :mchappy: |

Hi Senna You are more than welcome. Entering Oman by bike is easy and just some boarder formalities, Till that time we can arrange an advanture bike for you, but at this moment we don't have any advanture bike rentals in the country, you can fine some HD and sport bikes but no ADV. Cheers mate,
We're hopefully a few (three - four) who'll be able to make it down south to UAE/Oman. How many days you reckon we should aim at, if we want to ride mostly, and have a day or two off? Should we be looking at bringing camping gear, or is it easy to plan a route going from town to town? Senna |
Hi senna, you r more than welcome, 2 weeks will be great period to visit Oman and UAE. No need for camping as you can find hotels every where, you can camp on some beaches in Oman and Khasab.
If you need additional info feel free to ask Regards Saleh Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk |

Hello Saleh,
Hello anyone else thinking about a ride to Dubai. Just do it! We did it, and had the privilege and honour of meeting Saleh. I will not go into details, here's just a short story: Our Croatia-Oman-Croatia ride was stopped in Dubai, on the way back from Oman. I got seriously ill, had to be hospitalized for a few days, could not finish the ride back home. Saleh's hospitality, help and friendship was immesuarable. He helped us in every way, without him we would still be in Dubai, trying to organise transport for the bike. Now we are at home, the bike is somewhere at the sea between Dubai and Europe, and we have a new friend in Dubai. Saleh, thank you for everything. Boris p.s. If anyone's interested in recent info about Turkey, Iran, Oman, or ferry between Iran and UAE, just ask :-) |
