Whats up in the Lebanon...
...so after all the trouble with the Israelis is the overland from Syria possible safe to see Biuret?
|
I'll let you know in a week or so... I'm leaving Damascus tomorrow for Beirut. I'm sure it's fine (at least, until the upcoming elections). I've heard nothing but positive things from people traveling in Lebanon - though they weren't traveling by bike.
But, speaking of travel in Lebanon, I've read that I need an International Driving Permit (IDP) to enter. Is this true? (I don't have one.) I hope it's another example of something that is "official policy" but is never enforced. |
Yes, riding in Lebanon is no problem at the moment (though drivers here are crazier than in Turkey, which I didn't think possible). For the next week or so, things should be very stable... after that it's anybodies guess (elections). I've heard some interesting political discussions in Beirut these past few days!

Security in Lebanon
Hi all,
I was working quite a long time this year in Lebanon. At the moment the situation is stable, but since there is an election-period the situation may change within hours, in particular in Beirut and near the Palastensian camps. Therefore have an eye on the news and talk with people at your hotel. Generally speaking travelling in Lebanon is very easy, people are really nice. Take care of the traffic in Beirut, people are driving really crazy there, specially if you are going by motorbike. In most places people know English or French. Have fun Lalli |
