990 Adventure fork seal replacement in Morocco?

Day one of 14 and the big girl has blown a fork seal en-route to Chefchouen. WTF!!!

Haven't even seen a piste yet and with 600 piste miles and 1600 tarmac miles planned over the next two weeks it's not an ideal start!

Can anyone recommend anywhere that will have a seal, oil and tools to make the repair?

Planned route for the next week is:

Azrou - Imilchil - Tabant - N'kob via Boumalne - Oum Jrane via Tazzerine (close to Zamora this day) - Agdz.

Any recommendations, personal experience would be great.

Thanks!

Have a look in the sticky thread ‘where to get vehicle repairs’. On your route Fes is probably the first option.

After that it’s Zagora and Ali Nassir. If you haven’t had any much before then call ahead a get Ali to get the parts if he doesn’t have them.

I’ll be in Zagora area for most of the week if I can help

Thanks for your reply.

I've messaged Ali Nassir using Facebook. I can get to Zagora on Friday. Hopefully he can get the parts for then.

I've also sent you a pm.

Cheers

Sorry to hear of your woes.
A time saving option may be to nip back to Spain as you are so close.
At least to buy the seals which I can't see being easy to get anywhere in Morocco. Casa might be best place.
Or wait in Chef for passing Samaritan to bring them on the ferry.

Another idea: a KTM rental place with actual moto know-how.
USD fork seals are a tricky job with special tools, afaik.
Only one I know is Wilderness Wheels in Ouarzazate - though they only rent 450s, last I looked.
Another option is Loc 2 Roues in Marrakech.
I am near there now and can ask.
They rent 701s - one near-new one blew a seal a day out of Marrakech one time so they certainly have the tools and know-how.
Presume ø is different on a 990, but you might be in luck.
Dig up a part number.

Or, can you not just ride and top up, as long as it keeps off the brakes?
You will lose valuable days making repairs.

It seems a not uncommon problem with KTMs and USDs.
A 450 overlander I met was stuck 2 weeks in Spain getting his done, and carries spares.

Bring it and you won't need it. Don't ask me how I know ;-)

For parts, try contacting MotoPlus in Casablanca. See this post that I made earlier this year: Awesome Service from MotoPlus, Casablanca

A great reply as always. Cheers Chris, I needed cheering up 🤣🤣🤣.

Neither hanging around nor returning to Spain are options so unless Ali comes good it’ll be the topping-up option. I’ll buy a sock to tie around the forkleg 😮

Cheers!

Thanks Michael. No time for that this time around I’m afraid. Worth knowing for next time though.

Cheers
