Camping in Rabat
Hay
we have a overland truck and we are wanting to pick up a few visas in rabat, but i heard the old campsite is long gone ( even if its still listed everywere) anyone know a place in or near rabat we can camp in January |
I was planning to use De La Plage camping when I go for my visas ...
(I have not been before) It is apparently located on Sale side of the river, sources: Touring Africa and again same source on HU http://www.horizonsunlimited.com/hub...ribute-39077-3 |

Surfy |
I spent ages trying to find the Sale campsite, 3 years back only to be informed that it had shut down. Dont know if has been replaced. Ended up camping in Kenitra, in a lousy camp site.
It was also tight trying to drive around the place (I have a LR 130) in a truck it might be impossible (depending how big it is) |
De La Plage in Sale is long gone they sold the land to developers there is loads of new flats and a fancy harbour and tram system there now.
Best thing perhaps camp in car park of marjanne or carrefour supermarket in Sale near the big roundabout there is wasteland by the side of it I dont know of any other camp sites in Rabat itself but there is one on the old Casa/Rabat road, not the toll road, just after the turn off to a town called Skhirat in the grounds of a hotel on the main road called Hotel Les Gambusias approx 30km from Rabat. |
we plan to pick up quiet a few visas in rabat so i dont think a supermarket carpark will realy work...but i will look into that other place you mentioned
yes i stayed in the old campsite in rabat years ago...but i hear its long gone...it was right next to the sea, great location...shame |
We last stayed in the youth hostel next to the Grand Marché (Old Market) while waiting for our visas. Lots of hotels in the area also, but not really worth the money and also very busy so in the evening they were all full.
Hostel was relaxed, backpackers sipping tea, guarded parking nearby. Quite a distance from the embassy and easy to get lost in Rabat traffic. |
Hi
You have the Camping Harhoura in the Foret the Harhoura, its only 15 km from the town centre and its near the acces to the A3. But i can´t tell you if it´s open in January |
