GoPro footage, Moroco Overland Routes
Bit bored at work today, and realised I never got round to posting links here to some short GoPro clips from Jan '13, so here goes.
I like this one - mainly cos I seem to remember somewhere I read CS saying "if you get to the top of here on a 1200GS, take a photo" - and the view of the Issil plain! There are a few others here also. Also a tracklog of our route and some photos on Flickr. You'll notice we did manage the full transit of the High Atlas, despite it being mid-Jan - just. Though gave up on the Cirque de Jaffar - the route was blocked with snowdrifts, no vehicles having passed. Back again straight after Christmas :funmeteryes: Chris, is your revised book coming out on Kindle? I found it surprisingly useful having the book in my pocket (smartphone) all the time - whether on the piste, or in the evening. |
Love the commentary when you see the Issel Plain :)

Great vid Ian, just like I remember it. The GS's suspension must have been quite warm by that point ;-)
We're back in the Jebel Timouka area next week, but remains to be seen if my mixed group will be up for MA7. Quote:
Relieved to hear it was actually useable on a smartphone. Ch |
To be honest Chris, the GS just purred up there, no problem at all. It never ceases to amaze me how well they cope, even fully laden. I also ride a KTM 300 (2-stroke), and there are situations where I feel, contrary to conventional wisdom, that the weight actually helps. Sometimes a light bike skits around on loose stuff, and the big one just seems to soak it all up and stay balanced (usually!) with little effort. I liken it to a Range Rover as opposed to a rally car.
There was another stunning vista that suddenly opened out in front of us in the late evening sun (on one of your routes), which would have made an amazing clip, approaching Tagounite from the NE here. Sadly my GoPro through a wobbly and it only took a still. PS I never realised Kindling was such a complex art, I imagined they just pressed a button to convert it, then sat back and watched the money roll in! Have a good trip! |
