INFO: Route Khenifra -El Kebab - Aghbala - Imchil - Agoudal - Ait Hani - Tinerhir
:helpsmilie:On the Michelin map the route between El Kebab and Tizi N Isly is partly indicated as difficult? ( black - white colours)
Anybody with specific experience how hard it really is? Road conditions, hairpins etc? We're travelling on a R1200 GSA and a F650 GS Dakar with panniers (because we're on a RTW trip). Both bikes have Heidenau K60's. :helpsmilie: |
Khenifra - Tinerhir
Hi,
The route'll be no problem for your bikes. Aghbala to Lac Tislit is graded/patchy tarmac and from then on it's tarmac all the way to Tinerhir. The road in the gorge may be beaten up from flooding but should be rideable. IMHO the route from Agoudal over the top to Msermir and the Dades Gorge is far better. It's piste but easy going even for a 2WD. Ave a great ride, Peter |
Michelin are lazy in the extreme. Since the route was first described like that it has been resurfaced twice. No problems whatsoever. Turn right before you reach El Kebab.
Not sure I agree with Peter's comments above, the tarmac route from Agoudal to Ait Hani and down the Todra is normally pretty good, whilst the piste from Agoudal to Msemrir can be close on impassable at times even in a 4WD. |
Agoudal-Msermir
Hi Tim,
Drove it twice last year and it was OK. Then there was a big land slip near Tilmi which closed the route for a few days. It was fine March & April this year and again last week. The Midelt-Imilchil piste suffered a huge landslide just on the entrance to the gorge after the Tounfite junction last September (5 mins before we got there in torrential rain) so we had to divert via Argbala We were told last week that there'd been another blockage but it was clear when we got there. To the OP, as with any high level pass, always get as much local info as you can, especially if it's rainy. Happy trails, Peter |

The piste to Tamtattouichte is indeed pretty impassible even for a 4WD as for over a length of 8 till 10 km the piste is so narrow and sometimes even vanished, that you're forced to use the riverbed. |
