Injector extraction tool hire, anywhere in Morocco?
Ok, thanks for reading this.
My predicament is that my Peugeot 807 2.0hdi was misfiring to the point of undrivable. Diagnostic tool, and symptoms pointed to no.4 injector blocked. Limped to Larache, with help of local mechanic, now he has taken the engine out to get better access:oops2: I'm sure he's honest and competent but doesn't have access to any decent hydraulic extractor tools capable of exerting sufficient force...... |
Never had a problem pulling an extractor off an inlet manifold.
All petrol motors though. |
I've had luck removing deep seated and seized injectors by loosened off the bolt/retainer that holds the injector in place.
You then rev the engine and the compression of the engine will pop it out. Or fire out and hit the ceiling. Take the usual precautions. |
Thanks for the replies...Apparently this engine is particularly prone to seized injectors. Trouble is that the engine is now on the floor, so the starting the engine technique isn't gonna work out.
My optimism and mechanics confidence have conspired to leave us in an awkward place. Pride prevented him from admitting defeat. I'm at a loss, as what to do... |
Shame it's out. That makes life more difficult.
He can try soaking them in 'plusgas', 'Yield' or another proper penetrating fluid. WD40 is 'okay' but certainly not the best. Sent from my Moto G (5) using Tapatalk |
50/50 mix of acetone and ATF: Effective releasing fluid apparently. Never had to resort to it myself.
Are there any other workshops in town that your mechanic can ask for an extractor? It's not such a specialist or expensive tool. Unless the Peugeot set-up is unique maybe? Have you got the French translation to go searching yourself? Could you go to Casa to buy an extractor? On the (slightly) bright side .. the engine can be put in the back of van to take it to another workshop if necessary Youtube video that might help. |
The engine does not have to start.
Just hook the starter motor up to a battery .. rags over the injector to stop it flying away. A few turns on the motor is all that should be required. |
All great ideas, most of which have been tried.
That particular engine is prone to injector seizure Anyway, discovered further problems with it so now considering replacement of whole engine........ |
