Latest road conditions

Next week I am going to Morocco with a group who will probably want to stick to the Nationals. I want to do a few detours. I will be on my own and would only attempt the routes if sealed as my bike is unsuitable for any rough stuff and I am getting on a bit and not fit enough for pistes

First one is the R408 Ouezzane to Karia Ba Mohamed and continuing on the R501 over to Fes. I have done it before and it was sort of graded and half of it was in the dark so would like to see it this time.

Second is the R706 (P7101/P7103) Er Rich to Goulmima via Amellagou. In Chris Scott's book it has solid lines to indicate it is sealed, just wondered if that is still the case

lastly the the R307 from N10/Skoura over the Atlas to Demnate. Anyone done this recently and could comment on the road condition.

R408/R501: tarmac was interesting in places when I last did this. No problems though.

P7101/P7103: good tarmac side roads. What I refer to as the 'three gorges route'.

R703: was thoroughly trashed last November in places but I've spoken to one 4WD driver and a group who did it on motos this year and it is certainly passable.

Thanks Tim.

The R408 sounds like it is the same as last year. :(

Nice to have the " three gorges " route confirmed though. :D

I imagined the R307 would have got some stick from the storms last Nov.
I am staying at Skoura a couple of days so i will recce it unless someone comes up with a recent report

Here's some pics of the Skoura to Demnate route. I pointed the 4WD driver at the link in Jan this year and he reckoned it was worse than my photos.

But he got through, and so will the local 2WD traffic on their way to market. I've stayed at Gite Toughrine and there's a couple of other gites along the route.

My 'three gorges' is actually Goumina - Amellagou - Ait Hani (in the Todra), but the section Amellagou to Er Rich also looks fine. There's a really nice Gite Chez Moha just to the west of Amellagou with ridiculously low prices.

Thanks for the pictures it gives me an idea what to expect. it looks like
it gets to gravel about km 68 for a short while and then back to tarmac

I will tuck Chez Moha away for a later trip as that road to Todra looks
good also.
