Planning a trip to Morrocco in September. Any info on places to stay or avoid would be welcome.

Hello rolybiker
A couple of links that may help. http://www.horizonsunlimited.com/hub...ntribute-39077 Morocco GS Knowledgebase - ::. UKGSer.com .:: |
For places to stay - in the south mostly - see here: http://www.horizonsunlimited.com/hub...ntribute-39077
Places to avoid include Ketama in the Rif mts (cannabis cultivation area). Not all may agree but better not to blunder in there (as some tourists do) without at least knowing the score. It can get a bit aggressive. See my Morocco book p11 and no doubt many experiences will follow. This is the only place of its kind in Mk - elsewhere all is fine, apart from hassley tourist spots. Thanks
Thanks but more info always welcome!

If you pass by Source Bleu de Meski (just south of Er-Rachidia) can recommend the Cafe de Soleil just on the left as you come into Meski, great food and used to Brits.
Don't be tempted to go down to the pool itself unless you want some real hard sell, but Mohameed who runs the cafe may be able to sort out a guide to take you to the ruins of the old town which you can see from the front of the Cafe. If you mention my name he may even let you sleep on the roof of the cafe if you wanted to spend the night. If you're heading north from there towards Azrou, 1 night camping in the Cedar forests is always worth doing. I can give you GPS co-ordinates for a campsite that we have used there, it's a bit off the beaten track but that means you won't get hassle. |
