Pistes between Figuig and Oujda
 

Does anyone have any routes between Figuig and Oujda they can recommend?

looking for an interesting route back up to the med coast before coming home

I have done a route between Beni Tajjite and Guercif that I can recommed if that's any good? but I have not been further East than that.

Figuig »» Iche Oasis

Iche Oasis »» Tendrara (Via Chot Tigri -Military Piste)

Tendrara »» Ain Beni Mathar (Believe it was a Dakar stage)

I will be doing them in March 2013.

Have a look at the ME6 - Figuig-Bouarfa update on this page. They say the gorge is blocked as they're building a dam. Don't know if it's blocked for good, but they liked Icht very much.

There's another route in the area as shown below in red.
I think it's in Gandini and passes station on the old railway to Colomb Bechar (Alg). Should be a nice desert piste.

Since i am following updates on this area through regular overlanders to this area (Land Lousa)

They are referring to a gravel stony piste for Mengoub (Mengoub Station) to Figuig and describe it as pleasant scenery but tough on 4x4 suspension.

There are a couple of points of interest in the area, Gandini guide has a good coverage (prehistoric drawings / lac Dayat Lhajal / Chott Tigri crossing.

we'll be heading from Erfoud to Figuig on a hybrid on the ME routes and had spotted the piste from Mengoub to Figuig. Handy knowing about the dam construction in advance though :)

mmmmmmmmm Chott Tigri looks a bit iffy for a solo trip. Might take the road up to Tendrara

Don't suppose anyones knows if the old railway is passable or has a service track alongside?

I am a teacher in bouarfa city (100km from figuig where I am from)
there is a piste between oujda (taourirt)and tendrara (chotte tigri)and a piste between tendrara and iche village and a piste between iche and figuig
from errachidia there is only one piste between mengoub and figuig oasis
to warden if you pass to bouarfa do not forget to say to me hi in my school which is in the road between bouarfa and figuig
when you get out from bouarfa count 15 km and you will find my school easily
if you have a question you want to ask do not hesitate

about your question about the old railway
It is not working ,It is used only for goods and not for people
but It is used in april for touristes they made a trip from oujda to bouarfa city
