Nice, congrats to the decision! :) I have a 2013 model, also already the time I went to Morocco. As it was a major trip (actually one of my really first big ones) I was glad to had chosen for the Yamaha. It simply offered more comfort when coming down the continent on over 2.500 km motorways until Algeciras port. [Actually, I won't do that again, and either combine with more time, and riding in France, or Spain, or take a ferry from Sete or Genova, which was how I returned].

Later in Morocco, on the gravel pistes in the Atlas mountains, and the sandy bits in the near-Sahara area I wished for a lighter machine, but that's another story...

I'll be riding down from Aberdeen in the north east of Scotland via a ferry across the Bay of Biscay, so will find out how comfortable it is. An Airhawk seat cushion should help!

Tanger Med for me.......it's simple and if you are on a bike don't queue with the cars at custom.....tha police told me once to turn around in the middle of the cars and ride back against the flow and head up the left hand side to the front.....they even have a laugh with you these days.....

Just completed the D16TER for next months trip in Morocco and there's some subtle changes from Tim's excellent article here:

Import forms, fiches

They now ask:

Point of entry - "Bureau d-entree"
Date of entry into Morocco - "Date d'entrée au Maroc"

The identifiant has also changed as per the attachment.

Finally, when I printed it off, it was on a single page of A4 in portrait, but in three sections.

Bureau de entree is your point of entry to Morocco. You need to sign each of the three sections of the form, bottom left, in the space provided.

Possibly a silly question, but here goes, can the on-line D16TER be only be used by someone who has a Moroccan CIN, ie been to Morocco before? Or, is it ok for me to write it in the correct place once I've got it in my passport on the Algeciras to Tangier Med ferry?

There's a space on the D16 for your name. Below you tick one of 4 options.
If it's your first time, tick "Etrangers en première visite au Maroc", continue to fill the form in and print it off. You can enter your CIN manually on the D16 once it gets stamped into your passport on the boat. When you get to the customs area at the port you'll be directed to the police booth to have your passport "composted" i.e. your police number will be entered into the shore computer. Then you can return to the customs area and continue importing your vehicle.

If you've visited Morocco before on your current passport, tick "Etrangers non résidant ayant déjà visité le Maroc" and a box will pop up where you can enter your CIN. Print off the form and you're good to import your vehicle at the port.

Technically, the number in your passport isn't a CIN, but that's the way the form works.

You can show your old passport to the immigration officer and get your old number transferred to your new passport. I'd keep thing simple and just get a new CIN in your new passport.
