UK - southern Spain bike shipping
Can anyone recommend a shipper, or even advise if there are any still operating?
We had planned a trip in May, taking 2 KTM 690’s in the van to Algeciras, which eats about 6 days including ferries. For a variety of reasons including it’s too hot, we’re postponing this till October, when we have less time so meeting our bikes in Malaga would be preferable. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk |
I've used flyandride.co.uk/motorcycle-transport-europe/ who are still around but prices have risen to £900 - each way I think.
Still prob works out well if you think of days off work and all the rest I know 2 guys recently vanned their own bikes right into Mk and iiuc, were stopped several times in Europe to check they weren't an informal van/bike transporter (in other words, checking bikes were theirs with corresponding ID, V5s, etc). So a warning about vanning your mates' bikes to Malaga while they fly in; something which was easy pre Brexit. EU has now got strict. |
I sent a message to Fly and Ride over two weeks ago. Heard nothing yet, but it has been Easter holidays

Thanks for the advice. It would be just bikes belonging to passengers in the van, so hopefully not too much of an issue. We’ve been to France with the bikes in the van last year without problems but friends have had issues going into Spain via Santander.

2 or 3 bikes in a van, with one of them owned by the van driver, will be fine even if he is on his own. You will likely be asked several times whether you own one of the bikes, and whether you are a commercial carrier (say no!). I even got asked how much cash I was carrying! ("Not as much as I'd like" was my reply:-) )
If you don't mind driving, the Portsmouth St Malo ferry worked out as fast and cheaper than Santander for me, sleeping in my van and avoiding most French toll roads, and the customs guy was much more relaxed than the Santander ones too. (They required much more explanation of my intentions before waving me through. The St Malo guy just said "If you're emigrating you'll have to pay duty on those" and wished me bonne route! |
