uk to Marrakech april 2025
I am looking at the April slot and the route options seem to be :-
Wilts to Calais drive through France and Spain, uncertain on ferries, both route and timing i'll come back to that. Ferry Portsmouth / Bilbao drive through Spain, the question is ferries again. Riding the whole way, across to Calais then down to say Algeciras 1600 miles, not going crazy maybe four days fuel budget 220 GBP , accommodation TBC Ferry to say Bilbao across Spain to say Algeciras 360 miles, in theory doable in 1 longish day depending on ferry arrival times. Then we get to the ferry crossing. I feel like it would be better to stop short of Algeciras and then allow a day for a short ride to the ferry, make the crossing and then get a reasonable distance into Morocco. Then the last leg to Marrakech. . I've done a fair bit of riding into France and touching on northern Spain but the Morocco thing is a little daunting. |

Two easy days I find, depending on ferry arrivals, as you say. Quote:

more meat on the bones
Apologies, not sure where the 360 miles bilbao to Algeciras came from, total brain fade.
So the plan is devoping home t o a friends in france via Caen ferry, then second night Salamanca stay overnight, down to Algeciras for night early ferry next day, Q is it possible/feasible to get ferry ticket night before, means of payment cards, cash only ? Q assuming a morning ferry what is a reasonable guess at how long to get through customs and on the road. Travelling Tangier to Marrakech looks to be coast road then inland, anyone have suggestions for reasonable accomodation 60 - 100 mile along that route, the idea being to have a relaxed last day ride to Marrakech. sorry if these all seem simple / dumb questions, thanks in advance for any info |

See here: https://sahara-overland.com/2014/12/...cco-documents/ Police stamp on boat > Custioms white card in the port > change money at BdC nearby > buy insurance if you dont have > ride out of port. (Get a SIM card later). With a noon ferry I usually head down the toll motorway 90km to Asilah on the coast. Next day an easy 550km to Marrakech down the motorway. Many like to 1st night in Chefchaouen then backroad it southwards via Fes. Slow but fun. The N1 etc roads to Marrakech will be much slower and tiring, even if they're free. The north is not that interesting. You wont' see the coast much. It's all easier than you think, even if it won't feel like it at the time ;-) The aggro and hassle at ports has largely been eliminated, thankfully. Tan Med is dead easy |
