V5 problem - not in my name
Hi everyone, this is my first time so please be gentle! Can anyone tell me if it is possible to get into Morocco without a vehicle reg document in my name? I have the new keepers suppliment, decent colour copies of the v5 but in the previous owners name & a covering letter from bmw explaining as i have just bought the bike the new v5 is on its way. Any thoughts?

It will likely delay you at the border but you should get through. Take the purchase papers for the bike. What the customs are looking for is confirmation that the registration plate is tied to the VIN and that you are the owner of the VIN.
I had a similar situation with a brand new Nissan Navarra. Good luck. And don't forget to sort your temporary import papers and print them out before you leave home. . |
When we went to Morocco in the Hobby MH we had a bit of a hiccup because being an Australian with a German reg vehicle, we have had to use a proxy to have it registered and insured. The company we bought it from does that so all the documents are in the company name. All I had was a letter/receipt we got at time of purchase with our name and details of the MH and the price - in German.
Customs bloke ummed and ahhed a bit and then slid the import documents (which had been drawn up by the little company in Spain that sells cheap tickets) back to me and told me to fill in my name under the company name. That was good enough. Recently coming into Turkey had exactly the same problem. Efficient miss at the counter wasn't going to accept that bit of paper just because it didn't have our passport numbers next to our names. Luckily another officer came by who could speak better English and he understood the situation and explained it to her and she stamped the TIP and we were in. |
Thanks for your replies , put the Mrs' mind at rest a bit. Any advise greatly received.
