Western Sahara South-to-North
Hey friends,
Anybody have recent experiences with Mauritania and Western Sahara heading north from Senegal to Marocco? I'll be traversing West Africa for a documentary project (PULAKU | the fulani photo-documentary project), concluding in Senegal in April. I'm thinking of continuing by moto to Europe. I've scanned the forums but can't seem to find any recent info about the following: -mauritania visa in Senegal (US citizen) -getting a motorcycle into Mauritania -getting a moto into Marocco I'm assuming things will be pretty straightforward once I take the ferry into Spain - or will there be import problems because my motorcycle is registerred in Benin? Thanks for your advice! Christoph |

Yes there will. Dont have prsonal experience but you may not even get into Mori or Morocco with a Benin bike. See how far you get but I would expect to have to sell it in West Africa while you can rather than dump it in a hurry later in North Africa. All the other stuff you will work out if you've got that far. Ch |
In 2008 I met an American in Dakar who got the Mauritania visa there, but it was expensive. 45,000CFA, 2 forms and 2 photos. Only the Americans paid so much, everybody else much cheaper. Not sure if this is still relevant however as visa situation always changes.
Personally I got my Mauri visa in Bamako without any hassles and know Americans did also. ot sure of a price for Americans though. |
