Android GPS tools?
Anyone use an android GPS app that you can download/upload maps, routes, POI's ect?
Thanks. Dave. |
ViewRanger seems pretty good. Used it all over Europe.

On Line ? Lots of data (you'll want free wifi) - Google Maps + Google Earth
Off line? (as in away from cell phone connection) OsmAnd (Open Street Maps - free version limited to 10 map downloads) If your a Ozexplorer user then Androzic looks ok so far. -------------------------------- Others I've not tried ... 'MapsWithMe' ? For travel .. experimenting with Wi-Fi Finder TripAdvisor Expedia XEcurrency and there are some others.. on another post around here .. http://www.horizonsunlimited.com/hub...sentials-66721 |
I use:
Sygic | GPS Navigation for Android and iPhone on my HTC smart phone and Nexus tablet. Seems to be beliveable routing, and manages UK post codes searches as well. |
Dual Sport Maps. Was the best, but developer cut it due to changes in Google Maps API that would require major re-write.
Viewranger and OSMand is as good as it gets. Garmin Street Pilot exists as beta, and APK-file can be grabbed from shady internet sites. |
My 2p
"Navigator"- in a word: Fab Download all the maps you want free. It even will let you know when updates are available. Reliable too |
Which 'Navigator'? There are a large number of them in google apps store ... Navigator by markcj - intended for sailing $1 (trial version free -limited to 10 waypoints)? Probably the one your referring to?
Navitel Navigator? City Navigator? SmartPhone Navigator? |
