Difference between Garmin 2610 - 2620
Hi,
What is the difference between the two Garmins? I could get a cheap 2620. Would it be good on a bike? Thanks, Frank |
No!
check the garmin web site but I think the 2620 was NOT designed for bike use where the good old 2610 was.
Buyer beware............ Roger. |

The 2620's used a minuture hard drive which was prone to vibration induced failure. Get a 2610 and stick a big memory card in it instead.
They're a good unit, especially for the money they're available for 2nd hand. |
Thanks for the infos. I just bought the 2620, I was looking for a 2nd hand 2610 for quite a while now but no luck.
I found out on another forum that it is possible to replace the microdrive harddisk with a regular cf-memory-card. Apparently for some devices the drive is easily accessible. Hopefully I have one of these. |
Garmin 2620
I have the same problem- anyone out there using a 2620 - results? I have not got mine yet so maybe I can replace the drive? - let me know

Hi Shacks,
What I found out is that the old model of the 2620 has an accessible door for the microdrive, similar to the 2610. You can easily exchange the microdrive with a 2GB CF-card. Unfortunately the new models don't have this door anymore. I've got a new one :( I would like to know if it's possible just to open the unit (unscrew it) still can swap the drive with a CF-card. I'm just concerned as the device is waterproof. Maybe someone has done it? Please let me know if you find anything out. Thanks, Frank |
