E-TREX “Legend”
Hello.
I have the opportunity to buy a GPS Garmin E-TREX “Legend” at a very good price. But I don’t know to much about it. Is there anybody who can tell me if that is the model properly to travel on a motorcycle? Thank you. Javier ------------------ |
I bought the etrex Summit, but its very similar. You'll see from all the comments about GPS that there are many different views. I looked into which GPS to buy and did I indead need one at all. This may seem an in efficient way to use one but I have obtained all the latitude and longitude coordinates for my trip from the calle.com site. Each day I will enter a route into my GPS based on these coordinates. This is a very basic way of using a GPS but so far it has proved to be very effective. I looked at buying the more expensive units such Garmin V or the street pilot which have mapping facilities. I found that the problem was that the mapping software for the locations that I will be visiting either doesn't exist or is very expensive. I bought the Summit on ebay, it cost me £100. Together with a good road map the Summit proves invaluable.
Hope this helps. |
I've the etrex venture, wich does what it should do.
I put most waypoints in using gps software (TTQV) and scanned in rastermaps. Alternatively, just picking co-ordinates from a paper map. I don't think the map features are something to invest in, unless you could load and reference raster images. Rob |
