Garmin GPS V code
 

I have a Gramin GPS V without the unlock code required to use the autoroute feature in cityselect. Will any kind soul share their unlock code with me?

I think the code is syncronised with the baseunits registration number.

Basically the code will only work on the GPS that has the same serial number. So i've been led to belive. This is the way Garmin get around software piracy.

Although if anyone know different would be curious to hear.

You're right they are unit specific, but I understand that two units can share on registration.

I found my unit lying in the road some time ago (seriously) and so do not have a CD or code for it. I bought Metroguide Europe, but this does not allow autorouting on the unit - on the PC.

Hence my enquiries...

You are correct. One code can unlock 2 units.
I bought a Garmin GPS V which came with Mapsource European City select. I was able to unlock the UK maps for my GPS V unit plus an older GPS III.

One thing that is possible is to install the Mapsource programme and maps on multiple PCs (home, office, laptop etc.) and unlock the same choice of map, e.g. UK, on each one.

I unlocked the Spanish map for mine as I was travelling through on my way to Africa.

Wish I had just used the base map and unlocked UK instead.

Not too keen to have to pay even more money out for the UK unlock.
