does anyone know if there's any place one can get digitised versions of the soviet military maps for ARMENIA for use with Garmin?beer

Unless your Garmin can display raster maps that seems unlikely. But you can get vector maps from Free worldwide routable Garmin maps from OpenStreetMap, but I suspect that they will be rather incomplete...

They will do great, I've used them last year. You can also buy a good map in Armenia.
