GPS in Russia?
I'm going to Russia next week, passing the border att Raaja Jossepi/Lotta in northern Finland.Anybody knows if it's problem to have GPS on the bike when you are going into Russia?

I don't know about Russia but it's always a good idea to keep GPS, sat phones and 2-way radios out of site at any border crossing or check point.

I rode from Vladivostok to St Petersburg with a Garmin on the handle bars. At first I was apprehensive but later found it was a good ice breaker with the cops. Most thought it was a phone, but after I explained it was a "karta sputnik", they were interested to look at the map showing my route and the roads, lakes and towns of their district.

I would be very interested to see your route taken. Especially the Vladivostok to Ulan Ude section.
Did you ride all the way through or did you need to use the train as well. Thanks ScottM |
