GPS maps for Bolivia
I haven't found any real good GPS maps for Bolivia yet except for maybe this one at :
Bienvenidos a la portada Jorge, the owner is in Santa Cruz de la Sierra and I think he has a shop in La Paz as well. He charges $100 to put it on your MiniSD card or Garmin Memory card though. And the tricky bit is how to get your card over there. Maybe there's a way for him to send it to you over the internet but then remains the payment problem.... Just talk to the guy and see what he can come up with. I have an old version but I promised Jorge not to pirate his software..... The maps are a bit sub standard but do keep you from getting lost. Contact me with a private message for more info. Gert :scooter: |
Any news June 2009?
Hey there,
does anybody know about the current GPS situation in Bolivia? I am living here and would really like to get some maps for my Garmin 60SCx... Kind regards, GRACIAS Stephan |

Gps
Hey thanks a lot!
I will try it immediately! /Stephan |
Yeehaaa!
It works!
Nice... It is very general though on the eastern provinces such as Santa Cruz. But nice to have something on the item, I'll get back with after some research. Thanks for the tip! PROYECTO MAPEAR should be expanded to Bolivia, though. Seems to be the shit. And it's still free! /Stephan |
Geogroup Santa Cruz
Stephan, if you live in Santa Cruz then try this Jorge guy at Geogroup (see my post above). He will charge you for it but he is bragging about how good his latest maps are. haven't seen them personally. In general check out the quadbike and two wheels scene as they may have maps. Take care.

Live in La Paz
Well, I live in La Paz.. So I do only rarely need a Santa Cruz map. I think I'll wait and see. Paying 135 $ plus 100 for loading on the micro-SD card seems way too expensive for me.
The Viajeros is alright - did a lot of driving this weekend! Stephan |
GPS maps Bolivia
OK, cool. BTW the GPS maps that Jorge has is all of Bolivia. I would still suggest you stop anyone on a quad of motorbike and ask what maps they are using. Chances are that it's Geogroup maps. And then see if they'd want to share a copy with you. I am not supposed to say this..... and IMG2GPS is a good program to do it. Although later versions of his software load in Mapsource directly so that you can upload it to your GPS from there...
Good luck and good riding! Gert |
2012
Any updates? I notice there's this site now: index, but whatever they're selling it appears to be around $400 and of unknown quality. Me personally, I'm interested in topos of Madidi National Park and other predominantly uninhabited parts of the country.
