GPS moron needs help
Good evening from Oslo, minus 16 C and snow all over the place. I see that Touratech Sweden is trying to offhand Garmin Nuvi 550 with wiring and lockable cradle at 30% reduced price. Is this a good deal, and are there any hidden costs for maps and updates when they are not specifically mentioned? Is the aparatus reliable? I don't have to have the newest technology, but it must be idiot proof to operate. I have read some postings, but don't understand all what I read.
Hope to be enlightened rather than bamboozled. Peter, in Oslo |
Hi Peter -
I've been using a Nuvi 200 for a couple of years now, and it's a fantastic piece of kit - very easy to use, very acurate. The 550 looks very similar. I've even found it quite useful as a basic GPS device off road in Morocco. Software will already be loaded onto it - you may want to update it after a year or two to keep the mapping current and this costs extra money. |
