Newb - Mapping of MC Friendly accom?

I am new to GPS and am planning a RTW to start sometime late 2007.

I've seen the section in this website that lists accomodation in 2nd and 3rd world countries, sometimes with GPS co-ords. It seems that motels that allow the bikes to be kept inside would be of particular interest and I could see how I would plan my route around theses favourable spots.

Is there a way we can create one GPS map with all of these locations on it? If so, when using a GPS, could I view data about each location? Ie facilities or rates?

Any input is appreciated.

Great Idea! Since Grant doesn't have anything to do in his spare time, maybe he could devote the copious leisure to this instead of taking boring rides, and begrudged trips. How about it Grant? You could stop eating lunch and do it. The money you save from not eating lunch would help buy stress relief tablets.

Perhaps frappr.com could be used for this. I can't check it out, it's blocked here in Oman...

Maps or POI ?

One map .. with 'all these xxxx' on it ... well errr no ...

The world is a very big place... Garmins City Navigator Europe v8 is over 1.5Gbyes .. so the entire world .. with added extras .. would be huge.

Better off making 'Points of Interest' in a .csv (comma seperated varibale file) that could be loaded to the GPS as an addition to the map. That would be the simplest way ... and probably best for most.

Of course you could always make your own map and post it up on http://mapcenter.cgpsmapper.com/catalogue.php with the relavant details added .. then someone else can use your map and make addition s to it and post that up and so on.. The advantage of doing it on the map is freeing up the waypoints on the gps for use by the operator to add more stuff too, and the map thingy has more features than the POI function. Making your own maps is a rather steep learning curve. For instance the GPS map actually consits of smaller 'tiles' - each 'tile' is the smallest thing you can 'upload' to your GPS ... some 'tiles' cover large areas .. but asre the same memory size as one covering a smaller area due to the mount of information (detail of roads/contours and or hotels etc).

I am working on this via google maps, but unfortunately, very few people post the gps coordinate of the hotels and repair shops. Perhaps you could do so on your trip. I am trying to do it on my current trip.

Keep in mind things change and if you had gps coordinates for everything and could plan your route by the hour going where everyone else have gone, it wouldn`t really be an adventure.
