No GPS fix in Landcruiser
A traveller friend in a Landcruiser is unable to get a gps fix with his iPhone (while driving). The phone needs to be held outside the car in order to get a position fix. Does anyone have similar experiences, and how did you solve them?
For instance, would an external bluetooth gps receiver mounted on the roof work? I do not yet know the type of landcruiser. |
Situation normal.
Running an external antenna is usually much better for a GPS in a 4WD. Don't know about a phone running GPS in a 4WD... most run a dedicated GPS. |
Even with the unit mounted in a holder mounted on the windscreen or top of the dash?

So if it is SNAFU, an external antenna it will be, then. Thanx all! |
