South America Paper Maps
 

Hi All,
I am looking for recommendations of online companies that sell good paper road maps of South America and that can be used on the bike (i.e. foldable for a tang bag).

I don't have an online company to recommend, but I prefer RoughGuide maps - printed on tearproof, waterproof plastic paper. They can be folded to whatever size you need without hassle, and don't start tearing at the folds like regular paper maps. On a bike, waterproof is :thumbup1:

My next preference is for Berndston/Borch laminated maps, because the are also waterproof, tearproof. You can write on them with a marking pencil and remove with a damp cloth. The problem I have with these is the heavy plastic doesn't allow folding into the best shape for your map case. I don't use a tankbag, just a BarMap mapcase from CycoActive (a.k.a. Touratech USA) and the maps I have for SA don't fit.
