tom tom rider
anyone know of an aftermarket mount for rider v1 Mine fell to bits after roughing it around smooth A roads of Birmingham UK for about six months.
Even more annoying was that when the contacts moved, the unit assumed that the ignition had been switched of and promptly shut down the unit. Very useful when you live near spaghetti junction! |
Quite a few on the market - for a start there's the RAM mount that now ships with the Rider V2 - it's the same unit so the mount works on both.
RAM Mounting Systems - Ordering Alternatively there's one from Touratech. Touratech UK Webshop As to which one to chose - have a read through this http://www.horizonsunlimited.com/hub...ouratech-32221 |
cheers Matt
Ram mount is no use as it uses the original gripper that comes with the tom tom. This is the thing that fell in half and was never much use anyway.
Not sure if the touratech one will be able to run off the bikes elec. system as it doesn't seem to have the contact plate in the back. Touratech stuff always seems over priced and has a built in a shed look to it, Will carry on down the touratech rout though, looks like my only option Thanks again Matt |

The most important thing they made better in the second version is the mounting of the GPS unit in the cradle. Try Touratech, I think they make a mounting set for the first version of the Rider. |

RAM mounts for 1st and 2nd edition are different. My mistake. And as I say above.... both RAM and Touratech make mounts for the 1st edition. RAM mounts praised highly as a replacement for the 1st edition - remember it only uses the 'plate' of the original mount for the connectivity - just as the touratech mount does. It's not the plate that causes the issues - it's the rather bad way it's held on the plate - something both the RAM and Touratech fixes. m |
