west and east on gps...
Simple question but I assume that I have to use a - sign when inputting longitude data from a computer to make sure i get to the west of 0 degrees...? otherwise I assume the gps will assume that it is to the east of the meridian.?
Thanks ------------------ pigapicha |
Hi,
With Garmin handhelds - (but not all makes) you normally input a waypoint by using 'Mark' - so the gps takes its current position and you then modify it for the new user waypoint, so unless you are crossing the Greenwich Meridian 0 deg or 180 deg Longitude the correct E/W indicator will show. As you highlight the Lat/Long to modify it the N/S + E/W will also highlight if you need to change it. Hope this answers your question. Cheers Grif |
