Zumo, any good for RTW trips?
 

I am trying to find some information on how good the zumo might be for long/RTW trips, has anyone had any experience with this particular GPS?

If not I'm looking at the garmin276c, can anyone suggest a good one for a RTW trip?

All Garmin units will use the same mapping information, so which one you choose depends on what features you're looking for and your budget. The Streetpilot 2610, Quest, GPS Map60CSx, Zumo and 276c are all popular with bikers, and all have their pro's and cons. Whichever you go for make sure you get a good quality mount, eg Touratech.

Much appreciated, I had a look on the touratech site and they haven't seem to pick up on the zumo as of yet.

HI there. I tried out a Garmin 2710 through last year - it has great features and proved 95% reliable. Bought a Zumo a short time ago, and it just does not compare. The trip data on the Zumo is whefully inadequate at the moment, with very few features; there is no "North up" arrow on the main screen, which I found very handy - to me, it seemed more of a "mass market" GPS, akin to a Nuvi but designed for a motorbike. However, I have heard a rumour that Garmin may consider releasing a better specced Zumo in the near future, with features as described above (and similat to the 27.. and 28.. Garmin units).
Finally, I strongly recommend Motorrad Concepts re a mount for your Garmin unit - strong, good looking and practical mounts - and a very good and reliable company to deal with - ask for Chris Holland

the 276C excellent and screen size and colour v good
and the smaller 60CSX
Somthing to bear in mind is this....

the 60CSx is limited to 2025 map tiles :thumbup1: & up to 2GB on micro SD memory chip
The 276C supports a maximum of 900 maps :( and 512MB on garmins own brand (read v.expensive) chips...:stormy:
So many gps's on the market most are 'dumbed' down units for just post code-2-post code....:rolleyes2:

Look at the hiking units with more technical features.

I like the Garmin GPSmap 60Cx which also lets you load maps.

Like all navigation tools it is absolutely no use unless you practise with it before you go into the unknown.
