algeria entry from in guezzam (south): visa problems
i'm planning to return from west africa through niger and algeria in 2004 now.
the biggest problem seems to be the expiration date on the algerian visum (45 days). any idea how to solve this problem? jan |
Not tried it myself, but a good starting point:
Algerian Embassy to Niger: Avenue de djemakoye Sw Ikoyi, Niamey. Phone. 227 75 30 97. Fax. 227 27 35 93 Worth a shot, be ready for a few days in Niamey! Sam. |
we showed up (on motorcycles) end of nov 2002 with one expired visa (only one week overdue). they made us sweat a whole day and finally issued a transit visa at the border valid for one week. the border official had to go to downtown In Guezzam to get permission by phone from tamanrasset. we blamed our delay on an engine breakdown which is not really uncommon in these parts (even 45days, why not). the algeriens were all very friendly...but KEEP YOUR CALM. sit back and wait...it took us two weeks to get out of algeria but nobody noticed.

hey filip,
thanks for the information. one more question: did you come down to in guezzam via morocco, mauritania, mali, niger? if yes, what do you think about doing the whole way in just 45/50 days. isn't that more stress than fun? greetings from germany jan |
gutentag jan
we came from accra and did the 6150km (of which 2500 piste)to algiers in one month. 45-50days should do the job if u come from the west; depends ofcourse from where exactly u come and what u want to do.... don't know what u drive, but an enduro can do on tarmac up to 600km/day.... depending on what your ass can take!! |
