I had the same experience in 2009 with our guide in Ahnet (from Tanezrouft V.).
For us it was Akly, a very kind man (and also very poor).

It was the same for you?

BTW, have you met Fouad (the agence's secretary) this year?
I had sent a mail to him but with no reply so may he doesn't work for them anymore.

About the mouflon, have you seen it like we can see on this picture or th picture was shot with a very big tele?

Not Akle (who we had on a crater trek one time) but I think a relative of his who was a fun guy of 69 years.

Yes, Fouad is around and still with TNZ, but often on the road with no email. I think at a Timimoun festival now.

Not a big tele which would shake too much, just a normal point-and-shoot but the image was cropped. I would say they were less than 100m away. I got lucky as 2 ran along the cliff not up and away.

Thanks for a good travel report. It all seems very doable with the right guide.
Of course the situation may change quickly in Algeria now.

Just watched all your videos what an excellent trip. Reminds me of the middle east 20 years ago, where I grew up.

We all know well that is not the vehicule but the driver (the hilux was in 2wd all the time!) so being the less experienced driver I didn't mind getting stuck every now and then...I had you to push me! :thumbup1:

Danward, The 110 is a station wagon which has had the rear side and back window glass & surrounds removed. The body has then been over-plated with sheet aluminium and sprayed to match the rest. The second row side doors have simply had stick on vinyl applied (I got some on eBay for my car).

The alternative is to do what Jeorone did to his (Red!) Land Cruiser - a complete body wrap, which was a stunning piece of work.

In it I spied you doing your Chef bit in front of a stove surrounded by a very nice sheet steel windbreak which really attracted my attention(yes,call me a nurd but here in the Middle East wind is a big problem):rolleyes2:,

Did you have it made or,did you buy it.If the latter where from?

Hi Tony, if you mean the big windshield seen @2.50, that was hieronymus's cooking set up. He posted earlier in this thread so PM him (or he may well chip in).

I'm told the story is in the current issue of 4x4 mag.
In fact I see that Jeroen's 80 is on the cover! Never had a cover shot before.

Think that was The Man himself, Hieronymus, cooking up some breakfast. Chris's main contribution to the cooking was turning manky 7 day old bread & Hilux scrambled eggs into delicious Eggy Bread!

I've shot many covers in my life, but never starred on it before! Nor have I ever been called an intrepid Scott before.......

@Tony, the shelter was made from thin metal sheet (zinc) with piano hinges all around so it is foldable 3-ways...the sides go inwards and then back and bottom fold 'double'. It is designed for my tailgate but it can be used anywhere to stay out of the wind or to make the cooking more relaxed :-)

Lovely bit of kit. I live in Dubai and there are many sheet metal workers who make feeding troughs for goats etc.

It's pretty flat by the looks of the pictures, if I didn't know I would have said the road was just off the side of the pictures and you were playing in some soft sand just for the fun of it... :cool4:

To be honest, the tarmac road was just 50 meters away.... :innocent:

Ah ha! I thought so... still, all fun and games. Love the photo with "Push here ->" on the back of the Land Cruiser.

This video shot with a camera mounted on the front of my car gives you a good impression of the tracks we encountered.....
