Algeria tourist visa north and south
Good evening to all,
Im planning a trip to Algeria for this Oct-Nov, about 2,5 weeks. By myself, combining local transportation: taxi, public bus, domestic flights, etc.... Visiting some historical cities in the Northern area, Gardaia, In Salah and finishing in Tamanrasset where I will hire some tour with local agency on the spot upon arrival. So if I apply for the tourist visa directly in the Algerian Embassy, with some hotel reservations via booking, will be enough to visit these areas?? Thanks so much for your help and suggestions!! Regards from Spain, Mario |
It may vary from country to country, but I am told at the UK embassy they won't accept easily cancelled booking or aitbnb reservations.
Then again, for the north these may not be required. So don't mention anything about going south in your visa app. Once there, get on a bus or domestic flight and see how far you get. Let us know how you get on. |
Good day Chris,
Thanks for your reply. So far my ppt is already in the embassy in Madrid. I attached several hotel bookings in the north. I presume the visa will be ready 1st week oct. We stay in touch. Thanks! |
It's been a few years however we did a couple of trips and on both occasions the Consulate seemed so happy to see anyone interested in visiting that the visa was issued with no problems - took two weeks.

Good luck with the visa. I will have to apply in Algerian Consulate in Alicante, since I live in Andalusia. Maybe I will have to ask you. Many years ago I talked with one Algerian about hoping to visit his country once day, since I loved the pictures of Hoggar by Jean Arthus Bertrand in a book. The day after he gave me as a present a full documentary in DVD Algérie vue du Ciel. (You will certainly love it!): https://www.facebook.com/watch/?v=693968758121091 |
Hello all, this is probably a stupid question but I haven't been able to find a definitive answer online (which may also be a result of my stupidity). Is it possible to apply for a visa to visit Algeria in an Algerian embassy which is not located in your home country? I am an Australian citizen in Europe so dropping in to the Algerian Embassy in Australia would be inconvenient, Any advice gratefully received.

Hello Chris, thanks for your advice. Although I'm a bit disappointed to miss out on Algeria this time around it will likely make my planning a lot simpler. Cheers, Jim
