Has anyone ever been to Tessalit, Mali? Is the road paved from Gao to Tessalit? How bad is the piste between Tessalit and Algeria? Is there any essence in Tessalit?
Google produces hardly any results for Tessalit, it seems nobody knows much about this place!

easy going, flat, most time firm, few ruts.

Yes, expensive. In Aguelhoc too.

It never really recovered after the 1990s rebelion I was told. The further south you go the rougher the piste gets, I recall (due to rains).
