Scott - I liked the sound of Aouli, but it was a bit of a disappointment IMHO. Having said that, I didn't really spend any time there, just took a few photos and turned back. It might be more interesting on closer inspection!

BikerT - I may be preaching to the converted, but I think you'll find N Algeria is about as dodgy a place as you'll find, and impossible to access from Morocco (legally/safely). Mind you, S Algeria isn't much better at the moment. I think I may head to Maroc again in a couple of months, maybe off-road this time. There aren't any other real options at present without a lot of hassle.

If your question is about riding east along the coast of North Africa then it's not so easily done:
The Mk-Alg border has been closed for years. Routes
Start in Algeria, or much less riskily, in Tunisia.
Libya won't be cheap to traverse.
Lib/Egypt border may wind you up (carnet needed?)
