Budapest-Bamako Rally
 

Im thinking of doing this event and wondered if anyone has done it in previous years or travelled a similar route (Europe, Morrocco, Mauritiana, Mali). Im new to enduro/off road riding having ridden sports bike for about 10 years, but i have done a little off roading but on small, ie 250cc, bikes, but i traded in my MV Agusta for a BMW1200GS and fancy having a go at this rally.
Basically id like to know how hard going the roads are and and just general info on riding this area.
At the moment its a toss up between doing it on my bike or buying a cheap 4x4 and doing it with my mate....advice please!

You can do the whole route on tarmac, eat and drink well everywhere and visa's and paperwork is easy apart from the new Mori rules.

I'd do the trip with a good mate (or a bunch of average ones) and forget about the rally. Do it at your own pace your own way.
