Camping in Egypt
Hello,
Doing some research for an African overland trip. Are you allowed to bush camp in Egypt? Are there any nice campsites through Egypt? I read that there is/was a campsite 'Adam's house' in Aswan, but not sure if it's still open,a s I heard different stories... Thanks for your help! |
Bush camp all the way

Back in november 2012 "Adams guesthouse" did still exist. Their location is quite far away from the center on the other side of the nile with litterally nothing around and yes, you are able to camp there. If its way cheaper than a normal room I don´t remember. When we got there, they didn´t sell beer which was a deal-breaker for us coming from Sudan ! ;-)
Ended up late in the evning in one of those bars on the nile with plenty of beers without having a place to stay yet and luckily beeing invited by a nubian gentleman into his home where after my mate twisted his knee in an accident on our way to his home near the damm we stayed for a couple of days experiencing absolutely fabulous hospitality !! :thumbup1: Cheers, Chris |
Camping in Egypt
Hi,
Adam's House for sure still exists. Wonderfull atmosphere. Agree it is on the opposite side of Aswan but with a ferry you are pretty quick to the other side. And don't forget to visit the tombes next to the ferry location and the Nubian museum ( the best in Egypt !). Did also bush camp in white desert although officially not allowed. Bush camping in Egypt is not easy around big cities but in the desert you can always find a dune to hide after Have fun, Peter |
Thanks for the info!
