Camping in Morocco
 

Hi,

Going to travell trough Morocco from the 25thDec till 04January with friends in two 4x4 vehicles. We are planing to make the Sahara-Overland routes in the south. Is there any risk in camping outside towns, i.e. in the piste??

I did that trip in july this year, and camped on a couple of pistes. It was fine on both occasions except on one of them I had an audience when I climbed out my tent in the morning. I tried to be inconspicuous and hide from passing traffic/pedestrians on the pistes (I was on a bike) but you may have more trouble in a 4x4

Actually on the piste, not at all for 99% of the time, though we had a run in with gun runners one night up against the Algerian border. Camp wild, its lovely out there.

You must hide from the road to avoid trouble, or people finding you. Being alone is safest. But you can camp *close* to the road. *Not* on it!
