car from Tunis to Djanet
 

In 1993 I leased (achat/rachat) a car in Paris and drove down to Tam. Crossed over at Fuigig and bought additional insurance in Algeria. I put the car through hell, it came back completely sand-blasted but that's another story.

Looking to do something similar, but this time the only option seems to be to enter Algeria from Tunisia.

Is it possible to rent a car in Tunisia and drive it in Algeria down to Djanet? Would the road be OK for a two wheel.

What about a rental from Sicily?

Alternatively what would it be like to take public transport down then arrange a tour of some sorts in Djanet.

Or, is anyone driving down and in need of some company? I'm may be flexible.
